I definitely bought into the hype surrounding the OleHenriksen Cold Plunge Pore Mask. I’ve loved seeing everyone wearing this bright blue mask. It looks like such a fun experience and I’ve heard nothing but good things about it so I wanted to give it a try myself. I’ve usually had good experiences with OleHenriksen products so I was hoping it would live up to my expectations.

The mask is 90 ml or 3 fl.oz and it has a price tag of $44 CAD. It’s meant to be a detoxifying and cooling mask that helps with the look of pores, texture and oil control. It’s inspired by the Scandinavian “cold plunge” part of their sauna cycle. You are meant to leave this mask on for around 15 minutes and then remove it with cold water working it into a lather. Follow this mask up with your regular skin care routine but be mindful that this does contain an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) so you’ll want to lather on skincare and spf to avoid any type of sunburn or skin issues for the following few days!
I found this mask to be extremely easy to apply. I used a large, flat foundation brush and it evenly went on to my skin. Instantly I could feel a cooling sensation that wasn’t uncomfortable, but almost felt relaxing and soothing to my skin.
It has a pretty strong scent to it that’s difficult to explain. It’s definitely has the clay mask scent to it but it’s almost a little floral and spa like as well. I would recommend going into a store to smell it first if your sensitive to scent but it just smells fresh and relaxing in my opinion.
After 15 minutes I did find that the mask was fairly dry on my skin. It lathered up really well and felt like a soapy, thick face cleanser as I was starting to remove it. I was able to easily remove everything with a face cloth and it didn’t feel like there was any kind of residue left on my skin.
I found my skin to feel soft and smooth without feeling tight and uncomfortable. I followed up with a thick and hydrating moisturizer and I felt like my skin just sucked it up and felt plump and hydrated.
I noticed that a lot of the texture on my skin had started to come down after using this a few times. I don’t think it’s a long term fix and you would need to continue using this on a regular basis to see that change. I have a lot of flakiness on my forehead close to my hair line. This didn’t really do anything to help or hurt that though. It’s something that I can’t seem to get rid of though so this would have to have been a miracle product to do anything to fix that.
Overall, I’m so pleased with this face mask and I’ll definitely keep using it in the future. It’s such a nice experience to use this and I’ve been really happy with the results. I actually used this with my boyfriend one night and it was a fun, mini date night at home activity.
