Project Pan – 18 Products In 2018 (Update #1)

At the beginning of 2018 I set out a plan to try and pan or use up a bunch of my makeup products. Lately I’ve been super overwhelmed with the amount of makeup that I have in my collection and I thought this would be a great way to challenge myself. I wanted to see if I could actually do it. I always wanted to try and see just how long it took me to actually use up a whole product. Since I rarely use up a whole makeup product I thought it would be a great accomplishment to try and do that with a few specific products.

Over the last couple months I’ve been pretty diligent in using the products that I set aside for this challenge. I have a specific place for them in the front of one of my drawers which I hoped would continuously get me to use these products. I do think that really worked and it helped me keep tabs on all of the products.

Every so often I found that I did get tired of using all the same products all the time and I would kind of set them to the side and avoid them for a week or two. But I always tried to go back to them and use them as much as I could. I also think I picked a few products that I maybe should have avoided for a project like this. I think it’s going to be impossible for me to get through some of the.

Lorac – PRO Palette

Overall I think this eyeshadow palette was probably the hardest product to use on a regular basis. I would go a couple weeks using it and then I wouldn’t want anything to do with it for like a month. I also spent less and less time on my makeup throughout the last months and the first thing to go when I’m doing minimal makeup is usually my eyeshadow.

It seems like I put a bit of a dent in some of the matte shades and I used that blue eyeshadow in slate for one of the first times in forever!

Smashbox – Photo Finish Primer Water

This was one product that I kept forgetting to use. That’s honestly one of the main reasons I added it and I feel like I’ve still been slacking so hard with that. I’m hoping I’ll be better at using it in the upcoming warmer months since it will be a nice refreshing way to deal with the heat. Somehow thought I still managed to get through quite a bit of the product! I’m excited because I think this is one of the products that I can definitely use up with a bit more effort.

Colourpop – Super Shock Shadow in Cornelious

It really doesn’t look like I got through much more of this product. I did lose it for a few weeks so that definitely didn’t help my effort to use it up. I haven’t worn a lot of colourpop super shock shadows lately either and I usually just like wearing the super shock shadow products together. I’ll try to put in more work on this one but I’m afraid this might be a harder product to use up than I was originally expecting.

L’Oreal – True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup in N1-2

I should have done a better job at marking how much product I had in this originally. I’ve been using it quite a bit though so I definitely think this is something I can get through by the end of the year. It does leave my skin super oily so I’m a little afraid that I won’t get nearly as much use out of it in the summer months.

Rimmel – London Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent

The pan on this product is growing at a very slow pace. I swear this might be the never ending powder. It’s one of the only products that I use on a regular basis when I set my under eyes and face. I need to figure out a better way of using it up because I’m determined to get this completed by the end of the year.

Hourglass – Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light

I use this product all the time but it doesn’t even look like I’ve made any type of noticeable dent in the product. I guess that’s a good thing for such an expensive bronzer but I’d love to make a bit of a dip in it over time. I’ll keep using it often and hopefully I’ll see some kind of results in the next update.

COVER FX – Custom Cover Drops in G20

I don’t even think that I used this once over the last few months. It was kind of silly for me to try to focus on using it because it’s not something that I’m really drawn to anymore. I want to do my makeup in the quickest way possible and this just doesn’t give me that speed. I’ll try to pull it out on my days off when I have a bit more time to play around with makeup.

Laura Mercier – Foundation Primer in Hydrating

I actually can actually feel a difference in the weight of this product when I hold up the packaging. I’ve been using it a bit more regularly and I think I can use it up by the end of the year. It’s been great for these past few months because my skin has been painfully dry and needs as much hydration as it can possibly get.

Marc Jacobs Beauty – Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Ro(cocoa)

I really don’t think I used this very much over the last few months. It’s surprising because I’ve actually been using black eyeliner in the water line a whole lot more than I’ve wanted to use something softer like this liner. I’ll probably be doing a lot more softer and bronzey looks in the summer so hopefully I’ll get more use out of it then.

Maybelline – Fit Me Concealer in 15 Fair

I’ve been using this one such a regular basis over the last few months. I’m getting tired of the really thick and full coverage concealers so this has been my go to! It’s super light in consistency but covers up quite a bit of my darkness. It never looks cakey like most of my other fuller coverage concealers and I rarely even powder it. I’m sure this will be all used up by the end of the year!

Benefit Cosmetics – Watt’s Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter in Champagne

I honestly don’t think I’m going to be able to finish up this bad boy. I’ve used this on such a regular basis and it doesn’t even look like I made a dent in it. There is a bit more of an indent in the product but for how much I use it I would have expected much more! I’m still going to keep using this but I honestly feel like the full size is such a waste and you should opt for the travel size if you can!

Maybelline – Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color in Touch Of Spice

I actually think that I got quite a bit of use out of this lipstick. I forgot just how flattering and comfortable it is and I’ve truly enjoyed wearing it on a regular basis. I’m really hoping to use this up but I’ll be so sad when its actually gone and I think I could be tempted to repurchase it.

Lorac – Behind the Scenes Eye Primer

I pretty much used this eye primer 90% of the time that I wore eyeshadow. I’m shocked at how much of this I still have left. I think I can get through the whole thing by the end of the year though. But based on how many other eye primers I have in my collection right now I don’t think I’ll ever need to buy another one. I even have another completely full tube of this primer in my collection already. This really does a good job at priming my lids though and I find my shadow lasts a whole lot longer when I use this.

e.l.f. – Cosmetics Lip Exfoliator – Clear

I think it was ambitious to try and use up this whole product. I also don’t really think this is any good still. It’s starting to get completely hard and I’m not sure it’s going to last until the end of the year. I also thought the shape of being a tube of lipstick would be great when I originally bought this but it just keeps breaking apart and is super messy. I think I might try putting this in the shower or in my bathroom rather than in my makeup vanity because I just never remember to use it there.

Benefit Cosmetics – 3D BROWtones Instant Color Highlights in 2 Light

I used this quite a bit throughout the past few months and I think it’s a never ending product. Like I don’t actually know if I’ll ever even finish this up. I also don’t know if I’ll get a lot of use of of this in the summer months because I just dyed my hair darker. I’d love to have finished this up by the end of the year but I don’t even know if I’ll finish this by the end of my lifetime.

Buxom – Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian

I really didn’t get as much use out of this over the winter months. But now that the weather is getting a little warmer I’m finding that I’m reaching for gloss way more often! There’s really not much of this lip gloss left so I think I can get through it in the summer months!

L’Oreal – Paris Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Amber Rush

I think I wore this maybe 3 times since I started this project pan. I love this shadow and it’s so gorgeous but I just never reach for single shadows when I know that I should! I’m hoping this will be a pretty and simple eyeshadow colour to wear in the summer and maybe I’ll get a bit more use out of it then?

Colourpop – Precision Brow Colour in Dope Taupe

I did use this quite a few times since I’ve started this project but it really doesn’t look like I’ve used it at all! Honestly, brow pomades are unfinishable since you need such a small amount of product each time you use it. I also have been wanting a quick brow routine lately so this hasn’t always been my product of choice. I don’t know if it’s the perfect colour for my hair now so I’ll have to work with this to see if I can make it match my hair colour.

So far this whole project has been super shocking to see how long it can take me to really use up a makeup product. It’s almost overwhelming to see that because I have so many products that I know I’ll never quite use up.

I’m hopeful that I’ll get through a decent amount of each of these products by the next check in. Maybe I’ll even have a whole product finished? We will just have to wait and see!
