May was such a crazy month for me! I spent the first week of May travelling in BC. I went to Vancouver and Victoria. It was amazing! I was able to spend some time with my dad who’s out there for work and catch up with some of my university friends that I haven’t been able to see much lately! But this meant that my makeup selection was pretty basic and I spent a lot of time just using my holy grail products. I did switch it up a bit and use some newer products and some that I’ve had in my collection for quite some time!

Every beauty blogger has tried out the Natasha Denona eyeshadows and said how perfect and amazing they are. I’ve been wanting to try them forever but I just didn’t think I could justify the price tag of the huge palettes. When I saw the mini 5 pan eyeshadow palette I knew it would be a great way to give the shadows a try. I really liked the eyeshadows but I didn’t find them to be anything special. After checking out the reviews of the palette I’ve heard a lot of people mention that the formula wasn’t as high quality as it has been in the past. I still liked the palette and think it’s a great all in one simple palette but I expected a little more for the price tag this came with. I used it quite a bit over the month of May because it was a great way to warm up my shadow for the warmer spring weather we’ve been getting.
In May I was able to be a little bit more bold with my makeup on a regular basis. I had a few later starts to my workday which meant I had just enough time to play around with my eyeshadow. I really was in the mood this month for winged liner which doesn’t happen very often anymore. Lately my eyelashes haven’t been looking as full as I would like but they are super long in length. So wearing liquid liner has been a great way to fake the volume. This has been my favourite liner to use because it’s super sharp and easy to use. It lasts all day and has the perfect dark matte formula.
Lately I’ve been trying to reorganize my blush, bronzer and highlighter drawer and shake up the products that I’ve been using on a regular basis. While doing that I managed to rediscover the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. I haven’t used it much over the last couple months and it used to be one of my favourites. I love how it warms up my skin tone and helps me look a little less pasty. This also worked really well on days where I was wearing very little makeup. I do hope they come out with a bit better shade range on the product because it really doesn’t work for anyone with darker than a light-to-medium skin tone.
I’m always a little weary of wearing a bold red lipstick. I’m nervous that it’s going to end up all over my face by the end of the day. This means that I’m super picky about the formula and pretty much only ever wear bold lipsticks in a matte formula. The Anastasia Beverly Hills lipstick is such a wonderful matte formula. It’s comfortable and only slightly drying throughout the day. The colour stays put and is fairly long wearing. I was shocked by the fact that I was still able to see the lip colour by the end of the day. I found this to be a fairly flattering shade of red as well! It’s the perfect colour to make a natural makeup look seem a little more fun and bold!
I feel like I’ve been in such a loose setting powder rut lately. I have quite a few but I never end up reaching for any of them on a regular basis. They don’t ever make a huge difference for me and sometimes they can make my undereyes look worse. But after trying this out I do think it makes a bit of a difference in how my undereyes look. The yellow tint really brightens up my under eyes without looking too yellow. I’ve been loving using it so far! It will be perfect as I go into the summer months and I’m a lot more shiny looking.
This has taken over as one of my favourite concealers lately. It’s great for lighter makeup days and days where I’m not wanting to wear foundation. It covers up all of my dark circles and helps even out my skin tone. It’s not super high coverage when it comes to acne but lately i’ve had clearer skin so it hasn’t been an issue. I’ve mostly just had smaller red dots on my skin and this does a good job at covering those up. I don’t find it to do anything to make my skin look better overall which this claims to do. But it does make for a great concealer!
