Ipsy Review – February 2018

Ipsy Review – February 2018

Ipsy is one of my all time favourite subscription services. I’ve been subscribed to Ipsy long before I even had an idea of how to use a majority of the products that I received. It’s an inexpensive way to try out a bunch of different beauty products on a regular basis. Each month, subscribers receive a Glam Bag with 5 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. The service costs $10 USD, shipping is free within the US and an additional $4.95 USD to ship to Canada.

This month’s theme was unzipped. It was all about breaking down the barriers of what being sexy is. They want you to forget about size, shape and age when it comes to how you embrace yourself. I think it’s really cool that Ipsy made this theme something that actually matters rather than some weird theme that doesn’t even make sense like they always do. I loved that the bag was pink and lacy because I really think it goes with that unzipped theme.

Ipsy Glam Bag

I was so disappointed with the products when I first saw my reveal. I felt like everything that I was going to receive was boring and I wouldn’t get much use out of. But after trying everything out I’m really surprised with it.

PACIFICA - Eyeshadow Palette in Beach Crystals

PACIFICA – Eyeshadow Palette in Beach Crystals

I’ve received one of these Pacifica palettes in the past and I think it’s pretty cool to get so many eyeshadows in such an affordable subscription service. These colours just don’t speak to me in the same way the other palette did. I rarely wear cool tones and purple shades anymore so I probably won’t get much use out of this. These shadows were not that pigmented. I don’t know if I got a bad palette but most of them just kind of blended away to nothing unless you packed on tons of layers and even that didn’t help completely. I don’t know if I’m going to keep this in my collection because I’ll probably never reach for it. You’ll be able to see in the swatches at the end of the post.

-417 – Hand Moisturizer

I have so many hand creams and moisturizers that I really don’t think I needed another one. But it’s a product I’ll probably get some use out of so I would rather this than a bad product. I was actually really surprised by how much I liked this. It left my hands feeling silky and soft. It sunk into my skin fairly quickly and I didn’t feel greasy or unable to do anything with my hands which sometimes happens with hand creams. I liked the light fresh scent it has, but I can’t quite figure out the smell completely. It isn’t fruity or floral but it smells yummy without being overpowering. I don’t think I would have purchased this myself but I’ll definitely used it now that I have it.

EVA NYC - Freshen Up Dry Shampoo

EVA NYC – Freshen Up Dry Shampoo

I hate dry shampoo more than anything. I used to use it all the time but I think I’ve found that my scalp is allergic to something in it now. It’s not the most healthy product for your hair anyways so I’m not that upset about not being able to use this. I decided the give this a try anyways on a day that I was spending at home so I could just wash this out right away if I ran into any problems. I didn’t actually have any type of reaction to this until the following day. I’m actually shocked that it worked with my scalp! I’ll definitely keep this in mind in the future and use it on days that I’m in a pinch.

LUNA BY LUNA COSMETICS - Baked Highlighter in Electra

LUNA BY LUNA COSMETICS – Baked Highlighter in Electra

I don’t think I’ve actually tried anything by this brand, but I’ve seen it in other Ipsy bags before. I really like baked face products because I find they always work well on my skin. This was no exception. It’s the perfect shade for my skin tone. I found that it gave me a really nice sheen without being too over the top! I’ll definitely wear this on a regular basis and introduce it into my everyday routine.

IT COSMETICS - Bye Bye Under Eye in Light

IT COSMETICS – Bye Bye Under Eye in Light

This has always been one of my favourite concealers. I usually use the shade neutral medium because I find it works the best at cancelling out the colour of my undereyes. I’m excited to have a bit lighter of a shade though so I can highlight my undereyes a bit more with this concealer. This concealer honestly helps my undereyes so much. I find it really hydrates and actually helps with the wrinkles under my eyes. It’s crazy how much of an improvement I see there when I’m using this concealer on a regular basis.

Ipsy Glambag Swatches

Overall I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked most of these products. I thought I wasn’t going to have much use for anything in this bag except for the concealer, but I can actually use 4 out of 5 products.

What did you get in your Ipsy bag this month? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below! Have you used any of these products before? Let me know!
