Makeup Bag Monday #5 – Colourpop Edition

Makeup Bag Monday #5 – Colourpop Edition

Recently I’ve introduced a new blog series – Makeup Bag Monday. I’ve been loving watching and reading other bloggers posts and videos so I wanted to try it out for myself.

Each week I put five products to the test and review them. This week I chose to try out just Colourpop products. I had a few new products in my collection and a couple products that are my go-to favourites so I thought this would be a fun way to share them.

Colourpop – Super Shock Shadow in Lightning Bug

This is one Colourpop eyeshadow that was hyped up so much. It looked super metallic and almost wet in just about every swatch I saw of it. Lightning Bug looked like the perfect summer shade.

I love how this looked on my eyes. It’s super metallic and has tons of glitter. I usually don’t love glitter but I’ll make an exception when it comes to Super Shock Shadows. Since they have a super creamy formula the glitter is super easy to work with and stays put when you apply it. I loved applying it all over my lid and then blending it out with the Super Shock Shadow in Cornelious.

I’ll continue to wear this colour even throughout the winter because it definitely makes my eyes pop. I had a ton of people compliment my eyeshadow when I was wearing this. One customer at work even told me he really liked that stuff on my eyelids, so you know this has to be a great shade haha.

Colourpop – Liquid Highlighter in Rose Quartz

I loved the whole concept of the crushed crystal collection that Colourpop came up with. I think crystals are so intriguing so I’m definitely down to have them infused into my makeup. The Rose Quartz highlighter shade was the only one that I felt was wearable for me. It’s in a shade that I normally love wearing as a highlight.

I really wish I was more into liquid highlighters though because they always look so gorgeous on the skin. They can be a little messy and too much work for me to wear on a regular basis.

I wore this a few times throughout the week and it was actually the first time I tried it out. I noticed that the formula dried down extremely quickly, which isn’t something that I was into. You have to work fast with it or else you’ll have an unblended, splotchy highlighter – trust me, I know from experience…

I also tried mixing this into my foundation one of the days and do I have regrets. I looked like a Twilight vampire who walked out in the middle of a sunny, summer day.. This would look way better mixed into moisturizer with a sheer foundation applied over top.

Overall I think this is a really nice product it’s just not the best product for me.

Colourpop – Blotted Lip in Drip

I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t own this lipstick… jk, I probably would survive, but I would like to think this product gives me life. This is the perfect everyday colour! I wear this so often that I’m considering buying a backup of it. Which is crazy because I don’t think it’s at all necessary to own an extra lipstick product since I already own so many.

I love how sheer this can be but you can still build it up to be a little bit more opaque.

The blotted lip formula is super comfortable and doesn’t feel at all drying on the lips. It isn’t the most moisturizing though so I wouldn’t really use this as a lip balm type product.

Colourpop – Pressed Powder Face Duo in Double Play

This has probably been one of my most used colourpop products since I purchased it. These are perfect colours for just about any look that I go for.

The blush shade actually works as a bronzer for me. I am a bronzer addict so I can’t get enough of this one. It blends out so well on the skin and looks perfect regardless of what you have on your skin underneath the product. The highlighter side of this duo is fairly blinding. It really gives you a gorgeous glowy highlight without looking super glittery and over the top.

If you don’t own any of the pressed powder duos I highly recommend looking into them. They have a few different versions of them and I’m sure you’ll find one that you’re into!

Colourpop – Setting Spray in Aquamarine

I really wanted to try to give one of the Crystal sprays a chance this week. I’ve heard such mixed reviews of them and I wanted to try them out for myself.

The first time I sprayed it I was shocked. The spray nozzle is horrendous. It looked like someone spit water on my face and I had to spend extra time trying to blend this out and make it look normal on my face. I had a little travel sized spray product that I completely used up so I decided to move some of the product over to that to see if I could actually make the spray work for me. That made so much of a difference. The travel spray bottle had more of a misting spray to it which made the product work really well.

I found that this setting spray gave my skin a gorgeous glow without looking oily. It also didn’t make my foundation break up or look weird under it. I think this is a solid product but only if you’re willing to find different packaging for it.

I loved being able to spend the week really focused on Colourpop products. Since it’s one of my all time favourite brands I have a ton of their products that I know need a bit more loving. Let me know what you thought of this one brand Makeup Bag Monday. I might do them a little more often with other brands in the future.

The products that I’ll be using next week are:

Physicians Formula – Butter Bronzer in Light Bronzer

Marc Jacobs – Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Ro(Cocoa)

Fenty Beauty – Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in 150

Smashbox – Spotlight Palette in Pearl

Bite Beauty – Multistick in Brioche
