Who is ready for another Makeup Bag Monday post? I love really focusing on a few products each week. It’s really giving me more time to develop my feelings on each product and to try them all out in different ways! This week was a pretty busy week and I had a lot that I managed to get done.
Keep reading to find out exactly what I thought about the products I was using this past week!
I really haven’t used this foundation as much as I should. This is one of the few cushion foundations that I’ve tried that is full coverage. I always use the shade Classic Ivory in all of the Maybelline Foundations but I find this one is a little bit darker then my skin tone. I actually had one of my coworkers tell me that I was looking super tan while wearing this.
I’m a little torn because I really loved how this foundation looked and applied but I don’t know how much use I’ll get out of this since the colour is just not for me. I really just don’t see the point of buying another foundation right now to get the proper shade. As much as I want to keep this and use it I’m considering passing it along to someone because I just don’t want a foundation cluttering up my space that just isn’t good for me.
I’ve been using the primer water for the past year and I really love it in the summer time. I haven’t been using it quite as much this summer but I wanted to change that this week. I was hoping that if I used it more often and left it sitting on my desk rather than hidden in my drawer I would fall back in love with it. This makes a difference, my skin always looks really glowy and healthy when I use it. I don’t know if it really prolongs my makeup but it does help it look a little nicer when I apply it. I’ve already repurchased it in the past and I know I would continue to do that.
Colourpop – Super Shock Shadow in Utopia
It actually hurt my soul to use this eyeshadow. It’s one of the tie dye super shock products that released for a limited amount of time. It had such a gorgeous print to it that I didn’t want to ruin it. But I realize that I buy makeup to use it and it’s a waste to just keep it hidden in a drawer to maybe look at it every so often. After using it a couple times though I realized that this felt extremely dry. I’ve heard of a lot of people adding oil to their super shock shadows to bring them back to life. So I decided to give this a try. I used a few drops of the Tarte Maracuja Oil and let that kind of soak in overnight. The next morning I used it and it made such a difference. The shadow was way more creamy and went on my eye like butter. I haven’t had a lot of shadows dry out yet which is surprising but I’m definitely going to keep that in mind for the future!
I’m obsessed with highlight right now. Even on days where I wear minimal makeup I always make sure that I go a little overboard on highlight. This highlighter palette works so well for me. I mix the four white/champagne shades. I can really mix together the shades to give me the perfect one for my look that day. I’ve also really liked using Bottomless – the tangerine pink shade and applying it to my inner corner. It looked GORGEOUS with Utopia on the lid. It really helped to make my eyes pop and I want to keep using those colours in ways that work with my skin tone!
I haven’t used this lip colour very much in the past and I somehow have two of them in my collection. I figured I might as well try to use one of them up a little bit and see if I really like the shade and formula. This is the perfect everyday shade. It gives me the perfect flush of colour and looks glossy without feeling sticky. This is a great shade to keep in your purse at all times and to easily apply throughout the day. I’ll be keeping both of the lip pencils because I have no self control when it comes to lipstick.
I really think this was a pretty positive week! Overall I liked all of the products that I used and the only one that I had a bit of an issue with was just because of the colour. Have you used any of these? What do you think about them?
