There is nothing more satisfying than completely using up a makeup or skincare product. I have so many products in my collection and so many on the go that I usually never get to the end of something. I’ll try to regularly write an empties post so that I can keep myself accountable for working through what I already have.
I always go through phases where I feel as if I need to buy every single new product out there that I tend to neglect a lot of the products I already own. The next few months are going to be a bit different for my finances so I’m going to try a lot more to use up and enjoy more of what I already own!
Recently I’ve gone through a few of my favourite products as well as some that I was a little disappointed by.
I will always repurchase this brow pencil. I think at this point I’m on my 4th one. It has the perfect undertone and colour for my brows right now. I also love how creamy and easy this is to work with. The spoolie works really well and manages to brush the product evenly throughout my brows. I will mention that this packaging isn’t the best. It always manages to get dirty and sticky, which doesn’t happen to any other brow pencil I use. I always somehow lose the cap for the spoolie end. I also don’t like that this doesn’t twist down, once you’ve let out the product there is no going back. Regardless of how much I dislike the packaging the actual product performs really well and I highly recommend it. It’s so affordable that I’ll look past the questionable packaging.
I’m so glad that I made it through this setting spray. I definitely won’t be repurchasing this one. I still have a small travel size of this that I need to use up because I just don’t want it to go to waste. This did a decent job of keeping my makeup under control throughout the day. But this has a horrible scent. It smells like I’m spraying alcohol all over my face and I just don’t think that’s good for my skin. The sprayer also stopped working as well as it originally did close to when I was almost done with it. I was not a fan of it spitting out the product at me by the end. I think there are way better options available at the drugstore – one of them is the Milani Make It Dewy setting spray which I mentioned in my July Favourites.
This is definitely a luxury skincare item that I think is 100% worth the price tag. I’ve gone through quite a few of these small travel sizes of it and I just love how gritty it feels on my skin. It makes me feel as if it’s putting in work on my face. I always have a ton of clogged pores and blackheads and this always helps with clearing that up. Luckily I’ve received two full sized exfoliators in subscription boxes so I should be set for life basically. A little of this goes a long way so even though it’s expensive I think it’s worth it for the amount of use you’ll get out of this. I usually use this once or twice a week because more often than that can be more harmful rather than beneficial for your skin.
I’ve included this in a recent favourites post because it’s the best way of removing my makeup at night. I love the scent of this, it smells yummy and fruity. It does a good job of starting my night time skincare routine. I do recommend following up with another cleanser after using this. It doesn’t completely clear your skin of all the product on it. It mostly just breaks down some of the tougher to remove makeup products like mascara, eye shadow & lipstick. I love using this in place of a makeup wipe. I just find it to be more gentle on my skin. I’ve already repurchased this and I know it will be something I continue to buy in the future.
I’m really not picky when it comes to mascara. I tend to like just about anything that will either give me volume or length. I’m also someone who will wear two different mascaras so that I get both volume and length together. This was a mascara that worked really well on its own. I was able to get the exact look that I enjoy on my lashes without being super clumpy or spidery looking. I usually purchase affordable drugstore mascaras but this is definitely one that I would make an exception for. I’m super excited that It Cosmetics will be sold in Sephora in Canada soon. That will make purchasing products like this a million times easier – which probably isn’t a good thing for my bank account…
Overall I think this was a solid micellar water from the drugstore. I think it did a great job at removing any makeup residue at the end of the day. It did struggle to remove some of my waterproof mascaras, which is often the main reason I reach for a micellar water. I didn’t find it to sting my eyes at all, which some drugstore ones can do. I still think that the Bioderma micellar water is much better but it’s also a lot more money. I’m not sure if I’ll repurchase this since I’m still on the hunt for the ultimate affordable one, but I think it’s a solid option that works well.
