Lately the only thing I have been purchasing at Sephora has been their favorites sets. I spend most of my time complaining about sample sized products. But I get so excited when there is a new favorites set posted – go figure. As much as I get annoyed by having so many sample sizes of products I just love being able to try out a ton of different products for such a reasonable price. The one favourites set that I always buy are the ones that focus on lipstick – especially the nude lip sets (who would have guessed that based on my blog name). So when I saw that there was a new one released I purchased it the first chance I could get.
I’m so happy with this specific set because I only own one of the shades. I love when I’m able to try all new products and shades from these. I do already own a few of these products in different shades – but you can never have too many nude lipsticks.
There were six different lipsticks included in the Give Me Some Nude Lips set, with one of them being a full size item:
Bite Beauty Multistick in Brioche (rich terracotta)
Buxom® Full-On Lip Cream in Dolly (sultry mauve)
Full size Ciaté London Liquid Velvet Moisturizing Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bitter Sweet (gray mink)
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Ludwig (nude fawn)
MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Rouge in C211 (rose wood)
tarte™ Rainforest of the Sea™ Color Splash Lipstick in Rum Punch (nude)
I have quite a few of these multisticks and have been loving them so far. This can be a harder formula to work with if your lips are on the drier side – which mine definitely are. I always have to exfoliate my lips quite a bit before applying the multisticks. But after doing that it makes these look really gorgeous on the lips! I especially like this colour on me. It’s a darker red toned nude shade. These are fairly long wearing but they usually don’t hold up well through a meal. I wore this to eat pasta and it mostly faded with just a bit of a colour stain left over. That’s totally fine with me though because I don’t mind reapplying throughout the day.
I love love love Buxom lip products! I was introduced to them through a Sephora Favorites set in the past and can not stop wearing them! These make my lips look so glossy. This was a really sheer colour but still gave my natural lips a little bit of a boost. This is considered a plumping lipstick so it will tingle quite a bit when you first apply it but it isn’t anything that’s super overwhelming or difficult to handle. I will say that these don’t look the best if you keep applying them throughout the day. I found that I usually had to wipe off all the product before I could apply it again. If I don’t remove it first it looks all clumpy and gross.
This really isn’t a nude for everyone. It’s a cool tone, almost grey nude. I doubt I’ll wear this very often because I just don’t find it a flattering colour for me. I will admit that I don’t have too many colours like this in my collection so it’s nice that I got this because it does seem pretty unique. This does have a very strong floral scent to it, but it doesn’t seem to last too long after you apply it to your lips. This formula lasted a pretty long time on my lips and and felt pretty comfortable. I didn’t find this to dry down completely though which is always something I’ve come to expect now from liquid lipsticks. I really enjoy the formula of this I just wish it would have been a more universally flattering shade, especially since it was the full size product that they included.
I’ve always been a pretty huge fan of the Kat Von D liquid lipsticks. I was obsessed with the colour lolita for a crazy amount of time. Recently though I haven’t been reaching for any of my Kat Von D lip products lately. I think I’ve just become overwhelmed by the amount of lipstick I own and I forget about some of the shades that I used to enjoy a lot. I will admit though that for a liquid lipstick formula the Kat Von D one isn’t the most long lasting. It seems to come off fairly easily about halfway through my day. But because of that I believe it’s super comfortable to wear throughout the day. This is a really great nude shade and I was excited that the colour was one of the newly released shades.
This is the one shade that I already own. I’ve actually worn it in one of my week in lipstick posts that you can read here. I really love the colour and I think it’s the perfect pinky nude shade for my skin tone. This is a very glossy lipstick so if you’re into a more matte lipstick this probably isn’t the best option for you. I have applied the Smashbox Insta-Matte lipstick transformer and it helped to make this look a little more matte which is more my style. I found this lipstick wasn’t the most long wearing which is definitely because of how glossy it is on the lips. But it applies really well so it isn’t that big of a deal to put it on again throughout the day.
This was the main reason I wanted to purchase this set – who am I kidding though, I would have bought the set regardless. I’ve just heard so many great things about these colour splash lipsticks that they’ve been on my wishlist since they released. I also love how adorable and unique the packaging is on these lipsticks. I honestly want to own all of the full size ones just so that I can have them on display. The lipstick itself was really nice. It wasn’t super long wearing but did last longer than I was expecting it to. I found this to be a super moisturizing formula though which made this really comfortable to wear throughout the day. I loved how this colour looked on the lips and it made for a really great wearable nude shade.
Overall I was not disappointed by this set! I think it’s honestly the best way to try out new products and to see what types of shades work best on your skin tone. I will continue to repurchase these and I’m super excited for the holiday sets like this that Sephora releases. There’s always some amazing favourites sets that usually come out within the next few months!
