Ipsy Review – March 2017

Ipsy Review – March 2017

Ipsy is one of my all time favourite subscription services. I’ve been subscribed to Ipsy long before I even had an idea of how to use a majority of the products that I received. It’s an inexpensive way to try out a bunch of different beauty products on a regular basis. Each month, subscribers receive a Glam Bag with 5 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. The service costs $10 USD, shipping is free within the US and an additional $4.95 USD to ship to Canada.

This month’s theme was Très Jolie. The products included were meant to give you that understated French girl look. I think I was pretty underwhelmed by the products that I received this month. They were not products that I was excited to try out for the most part.

I think the one part of this month that I was extremely excited about was the bag. This had such a cool design and was different than any bag I’ve received from Ipsy in the past. The only thing I wish the bag had was a small clasp or clip to keep the top folded down but it’s easy enough to add something like that on now.

Eva NYC – Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer *

I have so many hair products that I really didn’t need this product. It is nice to have sample size products that I can throw into my gym bag or if I’m travelling somewhere. I didn’t really notice this doing much for my hair but it did have a really nice scent to it that lasted a decent amount of time.

Chella – Eyebrow Highlighter Pencil in Ivory Lace *

I’m never a huge fan of using pencils like this to highlight. I’m always afraid I’m going to mess up my brows when I try to clean them up. I don’t consider myself a brow expert so something like this will probably never get any use from me. The colour is great for me though and it blends out fairly well. If you’re someone who uses this type of product than I would definitely recommend it!

tarte cosmetics – tarteist™ quick dry matte lip paint in rosé *

This was the only product that I was looking forward to this month. I love tarte liquid lip products and this is no exception. The colour looks great on me and it has such a great formula! I love that I’ve been getting more higher end lip products in subscription boxes lately.

mPrincess – Pressed Eyeshadow in Chestnut

This product 100% confuses me. While I was looking on the mPrincess website for the product I found that Chestnut looked completely different to the product I received. On the website it looks like a lighter orange toned brown where as the product I received was a deeper almost cool toned brown. Overall I wasn’t impressed with this eyeshadow. It pretty much blends away to nothing unless I really pack on the product. It was also pretty difficult to work with. I’m always interested in trying new brands and products in subscription boxes but this one was a huge flop.

So Susan – Blush & Glow

I was pretty surprised that I actually liked this product. It gives a really nice natural pink flush to the skin. It has a decent lasting power and wasn’t too dark or intense for my skin tone. I think this would work well for fair and medium skin tones but I really don’t think it would show up much on deeper skin tones.

Chella Highlight, Tarte Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint, mPrincess Pressed Shadow, So Susan Blush & Glow

Overall I wasn’t pleased with this month’s Ipsy bag. Receiving two products that I probably will never use was a bit of a bummer. I’ve had a bunch of really great months lately so I feel like I can’t complain too much. I would love to hear what you received in your Ipsy bag in the comments below!
