Ipsy Review – February 2017

Ipsy Review – February 2017

Ipsy is one of my all time favourite subscription services. I’ve been subscribed to Ipsy long before I even had an idea of how to use a majority of the products that I received. It’s an inexpensive way to try out a bunch of different beauty products on a regular basis. Each month, subscribers receive a Glam Bag with 5 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. The service costs $10 USD, shipping is free within the US and an additional $4.95 USD to ship to Canada.

The February theme was Much Love. It seemed to really focus on self love and getting a glowing complexion from within. Most of the pictures and advertisements from the month had the influencers in comfy clothing just lounging around.

February Ipsy Bag

I really liked this month’s bag! I love the orange detail and I think the lips on the zipper is a great feature. I’m a little surprised that they didn’t go for a typical valentine’s day theme with pink or red colours. But at the same time this is a pretty versatile bag and I could definitely get some use out of it.

I’m not a big fan of sheet masks. I find that they just aren’t comfortable and I would rather just slather the mask on my face directly. I did try the charcoal mask because I was intrigued by it. It felt alright but left my skin feeling sticky and uncomfortable after. I didn’t react badly to it though which was a good thing. I don’t know if I’ll keep the green tea mask or give it away to someone.

Rejuvenating Toner

I don’t know what’s going on but I went from having one toner to 4 in the past couple weeks. I really like that this one came as a spray, it makes it super easy to apply it quickly and it would be great for travel. We need to discuss the scent though, Ipsy describes this as a wonderful spa type scent. I don’t know what spa these people have gone to but this honestly smells horrible. The scent disappears after a couple minutes though so it’s not too bad. But I just can’t handle it and I will not be repurchasing this ever again.

Luxie Beauty always has some really nice brushes. I’ve never received a bad brush from the brand. This isn’t my favourite shape of brush for blush but I’m sure I’ll find some use for it somehow.

Hikari Cosmetics
Cream Pigment Eye Shadow in Latte

I’ve received this eye shadow pigment in a different colour from a subscription box before. I really like the formula and it lasts a decent amount of time. I’m not sure how often I’ll use this colour because I tend to put lighter shimmer shades on my lid but it will be nice for a sultry smokey look.

I have a few other NYX butter lipsticks in other shades. They are a great moisturizing formula with a sheer to buildable wash of colour. They last a decent amount of time and I really like almost everything I try from NYX.

This wasn’t my favourite Ipsy bag but I’ve definitely had worse months before. For the most part this one has products I’ll probably get a decent amount of use out of. I think I’ve just been spoiled with other subscription boxes lately and this one is just falling flat for me.
