Ipsy is one of my all time favourite subscription services. I’ve been subscribed to Ipsy long before I even had an idea of how to use a majority of the products that I received. It’s an inexpensive way to try out a bunch of different beauty products on a regular basis. Each month, subscribers receive a Glam Bag with 5 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. The service costs $10 USD, shipping is free within the US and an additional $4.95 USD to ship to Canada.
This month’s theme for Ipsy was Volume Up. It’s meant to remind us to really speak our mind and to be loud about our thoughts and feelings. I thought this was a super fun theme and I was expecting very loud and out of the box kind of products. But I honestly never feel that the products in the bag really reflect the theme for the month. I usually only see the theme in the monthly bag.
Mascara is probably one of the makeup products that I’m the least picky about. As long as it gives me some volume and makes my lashes look super dark I’m usually pretty happy. I naturally have pretty long lashes so I don’t really need to worry about something that lengthens the lashes, but I’m not going to complain if that is something that happens with my mascara.
I haven’t really found too many mascara products that I’ve been unhappy with. That was until I tried the Rimmel Shake It Mascara.
This year I have been much more focused on using up some of the products that I already own and trying to limit my spending on makeup and skincare as much as I can. I think I’ve actually been pretty successful at trying to get through my pretty obnoxious makeup collection.
I really want to share some of my thoughts on the products that I’ve completely used up. These are always the most interesting types of posts to read because you can really see exactly how the product works because you’ve used it so much!
When I first saw the swatches for the iluvsarahii and Colourpop collection I wasn’t necessarily wowed by anything. I felt like the eyeshadows were a little predictable and the lip colours were just like most of the colours I already have in my collection. But as I watched more and more videos of different looks with the collection I slowly started to fall in love with the eyeshadow palettes.
The Chic-y palette is really great for everyday use where as the $aucey palette is gorgeous for a more smokey/colourful look. I usually don’t gravitate towards pink and purple shades but the $aucey palette spoke to my soul and I just couldn’t resist picking it up.
Throughout the month of May I seriously broke my no-buy. I spent a little too much money on makeup that I probably didn’t need. But I received my tax return at the beginning of the month so that’s how I justified it all haha.
I tried out a lot of new products this month because of that and I included some of my favourites in this post. Some of these products I had for a while though and I just finally got around to using them!
