There was a time that I was on the hunt for the perfect Liquid Lipstick and I tried every formula that I could get my hands on. I’ve definitely moved away from that a bit and I enjoy just about any lip product now.

But one of the formulas that I enjoyed in the past was the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick. I haven’t worn it as much lately so I wanted to test out one of the shades I own and revisit my feelings about it in a blog post. I remember the formula being long lasting and comfortable and I’m interested in seeing if my thoughts on the formula have changed now!
I found that the formula is very thin in consistency but it does have a lot of pigment to it. With one or two swipes you can cover the lips and have the full amount of colour payoff. Everything dries down fairly quickly and you don’t have to wait too long before you go about your day!
After the formula dries down it is pretty much transfer proof. I found that it would hold up most of the time while eating and drinking. At times though this would wear off while eating if it was something messy or super greasy.
I recommend making sure that your lips are exfoliated before applying this. Any dryness or flakiness are accentuated the moment that you apply the lipstick to your lips.
This specific colour, Stepping Out, can be super flattering. I find it does look best when I have a full face of makeup on because it can bring out any of the redness on my skin. It also does accentuate any yellowness on my teeth – but at this point just about any nude shade does that because I’ve spiraled into being a caffeine addict.
I did notice that since I’ve had this lipstick in my collection for a while that the formula was a little thicker and drier than I remember it being originally. I’m sure this is pretty normal for liquid lipsticks but I do think this dried up a little quicker than I would have expected. It’s an expensive lipstick so I would have hoped it would have lasted a little longer since I have some lip products that still work well that are a lot older than this one.
Have you tried out the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
