Ipsy is one of my all time favourite subscription services. I’ve been subscribed to Ipsy long before I even had an idea of how to use a majority of the products that I received. It’s an inexpensive way to try out a bunch of different beauty products on a regular basis. Each month, subscribers receive a Glam Bag with 5 deluxe samples and/or full-sized beauty products. The service costs $10 USD, shipping is free within the US and an additional $4.95 USD to ship to Canada.
This was one of the first bags in a while that I wasn’t completely wow’d by right from the start. Ipsy has been putting together my Glam Bags lately with some amazing, high end, well known products. Whereas this month I really didn’t get the brands that I’m usually looking for and I basically had to get them through their new add on program. But I was still really excited to give everything a try. Sometimes when you don’t have any expectations of the products you can start to discover new favourites and find amazing products. It’s easy to get pulled into the hype of all the well known products that this was fun to dive into a bunch of under hyped brands.

I thought the Ipsy bag this month was pretty cute! I think it had more spring vibes though rather than something that was fitting for January. I’ll probably pass this along to my mom though because it wasn’t something that I was super in love with and I know I won’t end up getting use out of it since I have a lot of other Ipsy bags that I like the pattern of more.
Lately I’ve been really loving trying new hand creams! The winter is just never ending here and my hands are beyond dry because of that. I haven’t tried a lot of Ahava products so I was interested to see how this product would work for me. I found that it had a pretty strong ‘seaside-vacation’ scent. The scent did stay present for a while and it faded away slowly throughout the first hour. It also sunk into my skin in a short amount of time which is a huge plus when it comes to hand creams. The last thing I want is to apply hand cream and then not be able to do anything for a while because of greasy hands. I’m definitely going to use this in the future and I think this might be the hand cream that will stay in my desk at the office during the summer!
I’m really surprised with how much I like this lip gloss. I think this is one of the only products that I really wasn’t that interested in when I first saw the preview of the products I would be receiving. I think I was just confused by the slight blue tint. Even though the description of the product on Ipsy’s website said that you wouldn’t see the blue colour I just didn’t believe that. But it does apply completely clear. You can’t even tell that it’s blue after you apply it. It ends up fading throughout the day really well and doesn’t feel goopy or weird. It isn’t super sticky either and feels comfortable and hydrating when you apply it. I really recommend this lip gloss if you can purchase it. I think it’s the perfect gloss for people who hate the usual sticky and goopy gloss.
I was really interested in trying this eye crayon because I’ve always heard great things about the brand Illamasqua. I don’t really need any more eye liner products but I was willing to give this one a try. It’s your typical wooden eye pencil. I think it’s a pretty big size for being in a subscription box! I found it to be a little splotchy when I applied it and I think for that reason I won’t get a lot of use out of it. I always found that I had to smudge out the liner a lot after I applied it to get it looking normal. It faded pretty quickly throughout the day and it didn’t really seem like I was wearing any eyeliner halfway through the day.
I’ve been really interested in trying Yensa products. I really haven’t heard much of the brand except for trying a product out in a past Ipsy bag. I thought the product was pretty good quality so I had high hopes for this one. After trying it out a few times I’m just not completely in love with this. I found it really didn’t do that much more for me than a typical exfoliator would. I’m sure over a long period of time you might notice a difference. But after just over a month of usage I didn’t find it to have a noticeable difference. I’m a little shocked that it suggests using this 3-4 times a week because that seems like a lot for a product that’s abrasive. I’m totally down to use this as an exfoliant though – it did a great job at smoothing out my skin while still being gentle.
This was one of the products that I was extremely excited to try out. I’ve heard so many amazing things about VDL and I’ve been wanting to get my hands on some of their products. I really liked the consistency of this primer and how it made my skin look and feel. I found that it did give a glowy look to my skin while still being smooth. BUT there were little particles of glitter all throughout this primer. It made me look like I was a vampire in Twilight… It wasn’t even like a glittery sheen it was basically just particles of glitter awkwardly placed all over my face. The first time I applied it I thought I must have had something on my hand or like something was wrong…. But nope it was a mess and I definitely would not repurchase this. For the most part you could cover up the glitter with your foundation but I just don’t trust it because I know this kind of glitter will peek through and I’ll have a random glitter particle that everyone will be staring at in like my smile line crease or something.
I picked out a few products in Ipsy’s new Add On program. I love that this gives you some flexibility when it comes to getting the perfect Ipsy bag!
I’ve used this in the past and always had a good experience with it. I always found that it did a great job at breaking up any makeup that I had on my face. I specifically picked this product because I wanted to take it on vacation with me. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I somehow messed up my packing and didn’t bring any type of face cleanser on vacation with me…. But I have a few other smaller trips planned over the next couple months so I’ll definitely be taking this along with me.
This Luxie brush looks so much more high quality and modern compared to the normal pink handle Luxie brushes. I’m loving the look and feel of this brush so much. The normal Luxie brushes are super high quality and do such a great job at applying makeup so I was sure this was going to do an amazing job as well. It definitely did! This brush is so soft and it’s great at applying contour right into the hollows of my cheek bone. I’m so tempted to buy more of these brushes but when I went to the Luxie website I was shocked at the price point of this brush collection. Most of the brushes were around the $30-40USD range. I love the brush but I can’t justify that price point at all. I’m glad I was able to get this one though for a fraction of that price point!
This has been a favourite of mine when it comes to hair products. It does such a great job at making my hair feel healthy and smooth. I included it in a recent favourites which you can read here. I’m still not finished the other bottle that I already own but I thought for such a small cost it would be worth adding this on to my Ipsy bag! I would be willing to purchase the full price of this though because it does last a really long time and I really see an improvement in my hair when I apply this after a shower!
Have you tried any of these products? I would love to know your thoughts in the comments below! Let me know what was in your recent Ipsy bag because I’m always interested in seeing the different variations that you recieve.
