Shop My Stash – January 2019

I’ve decided to take my Makeup Bag Monday posts and transition them to a Shop My Stash series. The Makeup Bag Monday theme was great when I was trying to get these done on a weekly basis but I just don’t think that will work for me. I’d like to have a month to really try out all the products and see how I feel about them. Also since I won’t be doing a project pan year long challenge I’d like this to take its place. Plus I want to be able to post this series any day of the week and the Monday part could feel a little restrictive for me!

I’m super happy I picked out the products I did for this round. I knew they were all products that performed well in the past for me I just wasn’t using them as much lately. They turned out a lot better than the last month of this series. I found that I got a lot more use out of everything and I really wanted to reach for all of these products whenever I sat down to do my makeup.

Covergirl – Clean Matte BB Cream

I don’t wear bb creams very often because I just find that they don’t do enough for my skin, they don’t have the best coverage and they tend to just melt off halfway through the day. But I’m so in love with this bb cream. It has the perfect amount of coverage for me – a medium coverage. Even though it’s a matte formula I find that it basically just looks like a natural skin finish. It’s also an awesome colour match for me as I find a lot of lighter foundation shades lean a little more pink toned. This is more neutral and yellow toned.

Too Faced – HangoveRx Replenishing Face Primer

I’m obsessed with this primer after using it this past month. I forgot just how much I loved it since I’ve been using so many newer primers lately. This really does a great job of being an extra layer of hydration. With how cold it’s been lately my skin really needed that little boost. I think this compared really well to the Smashbox Primerizer. I’m really happy I rediscovered this in my collection now though because I’m almost out of my container of Primerizer and I won’t have to repurchase it since I know the HangoveRx will last me quite some time!

Buxom – Full-On Lipstick In ??? (This doesn’t have a shade name on it so I’m not actually sure what shade I even have of this)

I’m so glad that I picked this out to feature it! I forgot about this in my collection recently but I remember really enjoying it in the past! It’s such a nice wearable brown shade which is perfect for me for everyday! This has the typical Buxom lip plumping tingles that your get with a lot of their other products. But the sensation always goes away really quickly. This isn’t extremely long wearing but I find that it lasts a pretty long time throughout the day. It’s also super easy to apply since it’s basically just a little pen.

Vintage by Jessica Liebeskind – Illuminating Face Highlighter Set in Rose Quartz and Chocolate Diamond

I received this in a boxycharm box ages ago and I think this was one of my favourite products that I discovered through that box. This gives your skin the perfect glow without looking too over the top! I love mixing the two shades together for a silver pink glow or just using the specific shade that goes with whatever my look is for the day. I can also wear this on full glam days or with something a little more natural and it looks perfect either way!

Lorac – Mega Pro 3 Eyeshadow Palette

I think I’m slowly finding that Lorac eyeshadow products just don’t get me as excited as they used to. I used to swear by them and wear them on a daily basis. But now I just think eyeshadow formulas have improved so much and lorac shadows in these pro palettes have just stayed the same. I do enjoy the colour selection of this palette but I think there’s too many shades that are a little too similar for my liking. I definitely won’t get rid of these palettes even though I really should. I just find that they were some of the first palettes I fell in love with and I’m not ready to part with them.

Next month, the 5 products that I’ll be focusing on for the next Shop My Stash post are:
– Colourpop – Blur Lux Lipstick in Mesmerize
– Nars – Blush in Madly
– Too Faced – Peanut Butter and Jelly Eyeshadow Palette
– Anastasia Beverly Hills – Nicole Guerriero Face Palette
– Milani – Conceal Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer

I’m super pleased with this month of rediscovering old favourites. It was such a great way to get back into makeup for the new year and get me to stop thinking about all the new releases that I’ve been interested in purchasing. I have so many amazing products right now that I just need to get into the habit of using them rather than adding more and more to my overwhelming collection.

Do you guys ever shop your stash? I’d love to read your posts or hear about your experiences in the comments below!
