For this Makeup Bag Monday post I decided to pick out products that I don’t use very often and that are glowy and fun for the holiday season! I really wanted to try to pick products that had a bit of a theme this month and that I could easily use with a lot of other different products.
In this series I try out 5 products and attempt to use them every single day for one month. This helps to give me a better understanding of exactly how I feel about the products. It sometimes forces me to use products that I rarely reach for or ones that I might have forgotten about.

This year I don’t think I’ll be doing a project pan and I might just focus on these monthly Makeup Bag Monday posts as a smaller version of a project pan. I still haven’t completely decided and I’ll give you guys an update of what I’m going to do in my upcoming Project Pan update post!
I bought this on a whim a few months ago and really wanted to give it a try. My skin has been really dull lately because of the weather so I was hoping this would give it a bit of a boost. After using it for the last month I’m a little underwhelmed. This gives an illumination to the skin but it tends to disappear as soon as you apply foundation on top of it. It’s basically just a shimmery primer. I don’t find that it messes up the makeup that I apply on top of it but it doesn’t seem to make my makeup last longer. So it’s not amazing but it’s not bad. I wouldn’t really recommend this to anyone unless you wear really really light coverage foundation. That’s the only way you’ll really see a difference with this primer.
Oh boy. This is one wild lipstick. I’ve had this in my collection for a really long time but I just never got around to using it. After trying it out I’ve decided it just isn’t for me. It looks really nice in the tube but i find that it doesn’t end up being the same colour on me when I’m wearing it. There’s so much of a blue flip that comes out when I’m wearing this that my lips almost look sickly. It doesn’t even end up looking that good on any colour that I’ve tried with it. I also find it to be a little gritty and not at all comfortable. It could be fun for a night out of drinking and dancing but I would still rather just wear something a little more comfortable and less obnoxious. I’m not even sure If I would want to try out other colours because I just don’t like the texture of this lippie.
I originally felt like this concealer had to be really great because a decent amount of youtubers and blogs talk about it and it’s got such a steep price tag. I got it in a Sephora Favourites box a little while ago and just never tried it out much which is why I picked it out. I definitely think this is a lighter coverage concealer. It might be a little too brightening for me and I find it doesn’t always cancel out my under eye bags – sometimes it actually makes them look a little more obvious. I’ll get through this since I know how expensive it is and I’ll likely just mix it with another concealer but it’s not something I’ll every repurchase.
I got this a little while ago during a promotion when Colourpop was offering the palette for free if you spent a certain amount of money on a purchase. I never really got around to using it much because I felt like it was impossible to come up with a cohesive look with a lot of these shades. I would also just forget to incorporate it with other shades. After using it it’s definitely a palette that you can use as an addition to a simple neutral palette. It’s great to just add a little pop of colour to your look. I don’t know how much I’ll use it going forward because again I just kind of forget the palette exists and I would just rather reach for a palette that has everything included in it rather than grab a bunch of palettes for one look.
I was so excited to get this palette ages ago because I love all of the Wet N Wild Megaglo Highlighters! I never really got around to using it that much though so I decided to pick it out for this makeup bag monday post because it would give me a bit more time to try it out and decide if I’m in love with it or not. After over a month of using it I’m considering getting rid of it. I don’t find the wearable shades to be that great quality and as cool as the colourful shades are (the green and blue) I just don’t think I’ll end up using them very often. So I think this a waste of my money and I should have just stuck with the couple individual shades that I already own!
For my next Makeup Bag Monday I’ll be reviewing:
- Covergirl – Clean Matte BB Cream
- Too Faced – HangoveRx Replenishing Face Primer
- Buxom – Full-On Lipstick In ??? (This doesn’t have a shade name on it so I’m not actually sure what shade I even have of this)
- Vintage by Jessica Liebeskind – Illuminating Face Highlighter Set in Rose Quartz and Chocolate Diamond
- Lorac – Mega Pro 3 Eyeshadow Palette
Overall I think the products that I chose for my Makeup Bag Monday were extremely underwhelming and products that I didn’t particularly enjoy using. But that’s what this project is about and they are products that I would be willing to pass along to one of my friends or family that might get some more use out of these!
