September 2018 Favourites

I think this was a harder month to pick out some of my standout favourites. I’ve basically been in a makeup rut and I only want to use the products that I know and love on an everyday basis. This has been great for me because my routine is simple but it means that a lot of my products that I’ve been using are pretty much just ones that I’ve included in these past two posts (Everyday Makeup Routine and What’s In My Purse).

But I did manage to try out a few new products this month and switch up my routine a little bit.

Colourpop – Lux Lipstick in Scorpio Moon and What’s Your Sign

I love both of these lip colours on their own but when you mix them together they become a magical colour! Seriously one of my favourite colours for the upcoming fall season right now. I think these are both super wearable and I’ve been loving wearing this mixture to work everyday! The lipstick lasts fairly well throughout the day and it kind of leaves a bit of a stain on the lips when it begins to fade throughout the day.

Smashbox – Primerizer

I’ve easily become obsessed with this primer. It’s my go to for starting out my makeup routine on a workday. I’m usually doing my makeup on my commute so I have about 5 minutes that I’m not driving and I’m in the passenger’s seat, so I need to make the most of it! So this two in one product is exactly what I needed. I find it give a great base to whatever I apply over top of it. It’s fairly hydrating but still sinks into my skin quickly.

Colourpop – Super Shock Highlighter in On The Cusp

This is easily become one of my most loved highlighters as of lately. I think I wore it every single work day for the last three weeks of the month. It’s the perfect amount of sparkle and shimmer without being over the top. I really love how easy these highlighters are to apply and blend out because it makes my morning routine during the work week so simple and quick! I think Kathleen Lights and Colourpop did such a good job with this highlighter. I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this in the fall and winter when my skin is a little more dry and cream products become much more necessary!

Dr. Jart+ – Dermask Micro Jet Clearing Solution

I’ve been having so many breakouts this month and I can not for the life of my figure out why. I’ve had a fairly good skincare routine and I’ve barely even been wearing foundation on a regular basis so nothing should be clogging up my skin. But I’ve been pretty desperate to try out products that will help clear up my skin. So when I first tried out this mask I really wasn’t expecting much. I never have the best luck with sheet masks because I just feel like it’s a glorified version of a serum so I rarely use them. I also find that they slip and slide all over my face while wearing them but this one felt secure and in place the whole time. After leaving this on for just under twenty minutes my skin felt so nice and refreshed. When I woke up the following morning I swear my ache had subsided quite a bit – enough that i could easily cover everything up with a little bit of foundation and concealer! I now have a stack of these on hand because I think they are amazing for when you have a lot of breakout coming in and you need them taken care of quickly!

I-Med – I-Lid and Lash Wipes

This is such a random favourite but I seriously have to include it this month. I have really bad dry eyes – I have for about the last 6 months or so and I’ve been doing just about anything I can to try to help them. Lately I’ve been using these several times a week during my nighttime skincare routine and it’s made quite the difference! I’ve also noticed that I have a bunch of new little lash stubs growing in, which I honestly never seen before I started using this. My lashes also just feel thicker and healthy and just a little bit of mascara looks amazing now! I basically expected just a little bit of help for my dry eyes with this but it ended up being a wonderful surprise in helping my lashes! This is a product that you can’t find online unfortunately but it’s worth the hunt to try and find it! I’ve been getting the product from my optometrist/optical store – I used to work there so I seriously love supporting them!

I’m 100% sure that all of these products will become staples in my makeup and skincare routine for the rest of year! Everything I included this month have been products that I couldn’t go without for the month of September! Have you tried any of these products? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! Make sure to let me know what your favourite products are as well so we can continue this conversation down there!
