Over the last year I’ve been spending quite a lot of time in my car. I spend just over an hour a day commuting and up until a month ago I was almost spending double the time in my car. It can get a little exhausting listening to the radio or a playlist everyday so I’ve really been enjoying listening to audio books and podcasts to keep my brain working on my way to or from work!
Skimm’d From The Couch
I’ve been subscribed to the Skimm for as long as I can remember. I always love being able to have a way to keep up with the news in one quick and easy way each morning. Maybe that’s still the old-wannabe journalist in me (yes I originally went to school for Journalism and realized I love to write and keep up with the news but I just hated the toxic environment among journalists).
When the Skimm’d girls released a podcast I knew I had to start listening to it! I love that they share stories and interview female boss girls. It’s really inspiring to see women who are leaders and to hear their stories of how they made it to the top. It’s a must listen to any aspiring girl boss!
The Marie Forleo Podcast
My previous boss introduced me to Marie Forleo because her email aesthetic was on point and she wanted me to check her out and see how we can use some of her ideas and design elements in our own way. But after constantly reading her email newsletters I loved the messages that she shared.
She preaches about building a business and life that you love and I think that’s so so so important. It might be a little selfish of me but I don’t want to just go through each day just waiting for the weekend or hoping for the next day. I want to wake up each morning excited about what I do and the life that I’ve built for myself. I’m slowly getting there and the Marie Forleo podcasts are the perfect dose of self love and inspiration that I need some days!
The Goal Digger Podcast
Jenna Kutcher always has some really awesome topics for how to build your business and the social media channels that support it. I love that she shares lots of tips and tricks for building a blog and a business. I’m super inspired by her photography story and it’s made me want to get more into photography – I’m actually hoping to take a photography course in the winter and I think listening to Jenna is the main reason for that. If you’re looking for great content and ideas for how to market yourself effectively on social media than the Goal Digger podcast is perfect for you!
Help I Suck At Dating With Dean, Vanessa and Jared
In case you didn’t already know I’m obsessed with all things Bachelor/Bachelorette. I love a good reality TV show and this just always has the perfect amount of drama! I haven’t really listened to any other podcasts from past contestants and I only started listening to this one because I wanted to know all the details about Jared and Ashley and their romance and engagement. But I’ve grown to love listening to everyone’s struggles and stories around dating after their experiences on the show. It’s a light hearted podcast that I love to listen to when I just want a bit of background noise and I’m tired of listening to the music that’s popular on the radio.
Uncover: Escaping NXIVM
One of the first podcasts that I ever listened to was Serial. It really got me into the whole podcasting world and I was hooked – I’m still hooked on the story line and always searching for updates on the story from season 1. But it’s been awhile since I found a podcast that made me feel the same way. That was until I starting listening to Uncover: Escaping NXIVM. It’s similar to Serial in the sense that it’s more of an investigative story than any of the other podcasts that I listed above.
I had a friend recently suggest it to me and I’ve literally been binge listening to it since that moment. It follows a story of a woman who essentially found herself in the middle of a cult that was disguised as a self help community. If you’re looking for a podcast that’s more on the journalism side of things has more of a story line to it than I highly recommend this one!
