It’s been quite some time since I last posted a blog post. I’ve had a very busy and overwhelming past couple months. I’m starting a new job over the next couple weeks and the lead up to this and work that I’ve been putting in to get everything organized and set up for me to leave my current job has just left me exhausted. I also have been helping out at my mom’s house because she was away on vacation and her animals are just a lot of work. Her dog had me up at the most random hours throughout the night.

So I just ended up taking an unplanned vacation from blogging to just get my life back on track. I also just didn’t have the motivation to come home and blog after all the long days I’ve been having. But I’m hopeful with my new job that I’ll have a more consistent daily schedule and that will mean more time to blog and play around with makeup!
I didn’t spend a lot of time playing around with makeup over the last couple months but I did develop a few favourites throughout the month of June and July.
I don’t know what it is about this blush but I just can’t stop wearing it. It’s a colour that I would usually gravitate to in the fall and winter months but I just can’t get enough of it right now. It gives a great flush of colour and lasts a decent amount of time on my cheeks. I’ve been having such light makeup days that this is just the perfect addition to my look!
This is one of the few products that I’ve tried from Pretty Vulgar but I think it’s fairly great quality and I would definitely be interested in trying more products!
This is one of my most used Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Highlighters. It’s a product that I find gets neglected every so often but then when I try it I don’t understand why I could ever stop using it. I love wearing this on minimal makeup days because it just takes my cheekbones to the next level! It’s the perfect golden shade for someone with a lighter skin tone but I think it could still totally work for skin tones that are a bit deeper.
I really only wore a full face of foundation a few times over the past couple months but I used these foundations together quite a few times and I loved the finish. I love both of these products on their own but I almost think that the one is too matte and the other is too glowy. But when you mix them together they end up being the perfect combo of each. It also ends up being my perfect shade. Sometimes the pro matte shades are a little too pink for my skin and the pro glow is a little too neutral and they somehow just work perfectly mixed together! It’s such a long wearing foundation and it’s perfect for when you need something to last throughout the day.
I’ve been loving wearing this bold lipstick lately! It’s been my go to weekend shade. It’s such a great colour without being too dark and vampy – it’s still pretty wearable. I love the formula of these lipsticks – it’s similar to the normal Maybelline Matte Lipsticks but it feels a little more comfortable.
The packaging of these Gigi Hadid collab products are also just perfection. I wish Maybelline would have kept this packaging for a normal launch rather than something that was limited edition and will just disappear quickly.
I also somehow dropped this lipstick on the floor mid photoshoot so I’m upset it looks so mangled but it still works fine if I use it carefully.
I swear I need every colour of the Colourpop Lux Lipsticks. I don’t know why but the formulas and the colour range just gets me so excited for lipstick. I have such a huge collection of lipstick currently so I have tried to curb my spending and only picked up a few of these. But the shade Dream Easy is the best summer colour. Every single time I wore it to work everyone told me how great and put together I looked even when I was just wearing minimal makeup. I swear it constantly took my makeup looks to the next level. It’s such a flattering colour and works well for every day or for more fancy looks. I can’t get enough. Do you have any of the Lux Lipsticks? What’s your favourite shade right now?
As soon as I saw these being promoted I knew I wanted to give them a try. They seemed like such a cool little product so I made my way to shoppers drug mart and was shocked by the super high price point. They were something like 12-15 dollars for this small little jar of hair mask. I usually use a hair mask every single time I wash my hair so I knew I would blow through this in around a month or so. It didn’t really seem worth it to me so I just walked away and forgot about the product. But a couple weeks later I saw them displayed on a end cap and they were on sale down to like 4 dollars a jar which was a perfect price in my opinion so I picked one of them up. I’ve been using it for just over a month now and I maybe have enough for about one more hair mask at this point. It makes my hair feel super soft and super shiny. It doesn’t really leave much of a scent to the hair either which is both good and bad in my opinion. I would love to have banana scented locks. I would definitely continue repurchasing this but I’ll wait for some type of promotion or discount before I pick it up again!
How have you been spending the last couple months of summer? What have your recent favourite products been?
Overall I’m hoping that I’ll have a lot more time to not only blog but fall back into love with makeup. I’ve been spending most of my days going bare face – which isn’t a problem but it just isn’t as fun as having time to play around with makeup!
