Winter has always been pretty tough on my skin. I think my skin really changed when I moved to Ottawa for university. The winters there are pretty harsh and they really managed to draw out the moisture from my skin. I also started using a skincare product line a year or so into university that didn’t mesh with my skin at all. So I’ve just always been trying to recover from that. Luckily moving back to the Toronto area has helped my skin in the winter time a bit. It still feels fairly dry and flakey but I’ve recently found a product that has almost changed the game for how hydrated my skin feels.

I’ve always heard about how game changing a facial oil can be but I don’t think I’ve found one in the past that made a huge difference on my skin. But I had a bottle of the Josie Maran 100 Percent Pure Argan Oil Light sitting in my collection for quite some time and I figured I should slap that on my skin throughout the winter months to just clear it out of my collection. After trying it for a few weeks I noticed a huge improvement as to how my skin looked and felt. At first I didn’t think that this product was what made the difference but it was one of the few products that I was using consistently throughout the month of December. After some detective work I figured out that was the reason behind my skin feeling hydrated and I can’t stop using it now.
I usually use this oil after I’ve toned my skin and before I apply any serum. I’m not sure if that’s the right order to use this but it works for me and that’s what matters. It sinks into my skin fairly quickly but it still can sometimes make my skin look a little oily. After I apply all the other products in my skincare routine you don’t really notice it as much. I usually just use this at night time but if I’m wearing a more mattifying foundation I will apply this in the morning as well.
I will admit that I can’t actually properly close the bottle anymore. The dropper on this has just disintegrated and fallen apart on me. I was really surprised that happened because I’ve never had a dropper style bottle do that to me. That wasn’t mentioned in any reviews online so I think I just got unlucky with my bottle. I can still use it and the dropper still works it’s just never going to close. Which thinking it over now it probably isn’t really good for the product to constantly be open and exposed but it hasn’t seemed to cause any problems just yet.
I really recommend trying out different facial oils and finding the perfect one for your skin. I had to try about 5 or 6 different ones before I found one that works for me. Even if you have combination or oily skin I highly suggest looking into a lighter hydrating oily! They really can make a difference for your skin.
