After quite a long hiatus I wanted to bring back my Makeup Bag Monday blog series. But I’ve decided to switch it up a bit and only post it every other week. I found it was really fun to try products out all the time but it just became tedious and almost boring for me to just constantly churn out these blog posts. I felt like they were taking up a lot of my time and I wasn’t able to write about other blog topics that I felt could be a bit more interesting.
This post contains affiliate links or ads. At no additional cost to you, if you click on a link in this post and make a purchase I will receive a commission of your purchase from the vendor. I was sent some of these products for review purposes but all of the opinions are my own.
But with that being said I’m still going to pick things up where I left off last time. I gave all of these products a good shot again and tested them out on a regular basis for one week. After taking my blogging break I forgot just how much I missed really forcing myself to use a product for a continuous amount of time because it really helps me figure out exactly how I feel about the makeup item.
I have a pretty solid selection of makeup products this week and it was great to try products that I already loved as well as some that I’ve completely forgotten about.
I rarely see anyone talk about this bronzer so I think it was a fluke that I picked this up. I’ve always had really great luck with Maybelline products so I wanted to give this one a try. Going into the week I always seemed to like this product but I wouldn’t reach for it often. I wanted this week to kick myself into using the bronzer a lot more often.
After using it for this past week I feel like I’m going to be reaching for this often. This gives a really nice natural flush to the skin that isn’t too much for my pasty skin. It’s definitely more of a bronzer because it has such a warm undertone. It would look pretty muddy if you tried to use this as a contour.
The powder has really great staying power and seems to last well throughout the day whenever I wore it.
Overall I’m really happy with this product and I think it should get a lot more hype. Maybelline should definitely release this in a lot more countries than it originally did.
I’m pretty obsessed with the mascara so far. I find my lashes look really voluminous and long without looking super clumpy and spidery. It has such an odd wand but I think that really helps to coat all of the lashes and separate them. I’ve found that this also manages to keep my lashes curled for most of the day.
The one downside to this is that it’s not at all water resistant. My eyes water really badly in the winter time and I found this to smear a bit whenever they would start to water.
Lately my eyes have been really sensitive to mascara but this hasn’t been causing me any problems. I would definitely purchase a full sized version of this after I try to get through my huge pile of unopened mascara that I currently own.
I haven’t used this highlighter in a million years, it’s been hidden in one of my drawers for quite a long time. I think recently I’ve just been favouring powder highlighter because it’s so easy to use and I can apply it as a final step in my makeup routine. You always have to be a lot more strategic when you apply a cream highlighter because you don’t want it to mix weird with any powders on your skin.
But I decided it’s time to give this another try because I used to be obsessed with it. I totally know why I was obsessed with this after using it for the week. It gives such a gorgeous glow to the skin without looking overly glittery.
The one great thing about cream highlighters is that they last forever on the skin. My highlight looked just as poppin’ when I was washing it off at the end of the day.
I was sent this foundation a few months ago from influenster for review purposes.
After testing it out I’ve decided that I really like how this looks with a beauty blender and I don’t like it with a foundation brush. It gives me a natural finish while still covering up a lot of my redness and blemishes.
I found this to wear really well and it looked pretty good at the end of the day. All of the powder products that I applied on top went on evenly and looked great at the end of the day as well.
I probably never would have purchased this foundation if it wasn’t sent to me but I’m really glad I was able to give it a try. I haven’t tried many Shiseido makeup products but this one makes me want to give some of them a try.
I’m so torn on my feelings around this lip product. I really don’t find it to be anything more than a lip balm. But I don’t even think it’s that great of a lip balm. It has a really soft cooling scent when I first apply this to my lips. It goes away fairly quickly though and it’s more like a minty freshness rather than a plumping sensation. I don’t think it was super nourishing though. The Fresh lip products do a much better job at fixing my dry and cracked lips.
My main problem with this is the colour and the opacity. It basically just gives me a glossy lip look when I wear this. I don’t find it to have any colour on my lips at all. I don’t know if that’s just a problem with the shade I picked up or if it’s just the lip rescue line in general. Let me know in the comments below if you’ve tried this and had a better experience with it!
