Ipsy is one of my all time favourite subscription services. I’ve been subscribed to Ipsy long before I even had an idea of how to use a majority of the products that I received. It’s an inexpensive way to try out a bunch of different beauty products on a regular basis. Each month, subscribers receive a Glam Bag with 5 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. The service costs $10 USD, shipping is free within the US and an additional $4.95 USD to ship to Canada.
This month’s Ipsy theme is Summer Friday. Ipsy seemed to be going for a very fun pool weekend vibe. The makeup bag was inspired by the best treats for a Friday during the summer. I loved the theme and I think it’s perfect for the season.

The bag this month was probably one of my all time favourites. I know I say this every month but I actually think this might the best bag! I love the print and the fact that it’s clear. It’s easy to find everything just by looking through the outside of the bag. The shape of this bag is probably the best part. Sometimes the Ipsy bags are just too small in length so it makes them difficult to pack in products like my brow pencils or any brushes. But this one was the perfect size! I went away for the long weekend in May and I was able to pack my everyday makeup look and all the brushes I needed into this bag. I’m planning on doing a bunch of travelling in June and July so I know I’ll get a ton of use out of this!
I’ve become a huge fan of using masks lately. I’ve been trying to put on a mask before I take a shower in the morning. I just find that’s the easiest way to get all the benefits of a mask but to also make it easy to remove. I really enjoyed this mask. This didn’t have a strong or overpowering scent to it which was really important to me. Sometimes charcoal can be a little too much but this was great. I didn’t notice any noticeable differences to my skin right away with the few times I’ve used it. My skin didn’t react poorly to this. It’s been clearing up lately so I’m assuming that has something to do with the mask. The one thing I loved about this was the fact that it was resealable. Too often I get a foil pack like this, use it once and it completely dries up before the next time that I use it.
I’m a lipstick addict, which you should be able to tell based on the name of my blog haha. I’ve never actually heard of Mellow Cosmetics but I’m always willing to try a new lip product! I found this was more of a satin matte lipstick, which meant that it wasn’t super drying and felt comfortable on my lips throughout the day. It had a pretty good lasting power for a regular lip product. It didn’t really last through a meal but I honestly wasn’t expecting that out of this product. I found it was pretty easy to reapply throughout the day. The colour was a dusty pink. It was pretty cool toned which I usually don’t gravitate to but I found it was actually really flattering on my skintone.
I’ve received a few of the Manna Kadar split pans in the past and I honestly never use them. I throw them in my drawer of single shadows and that’s pretty much where they stay. The formula is nice on them but I just have other shadows that I reach for all the time. I know this is labelled as a bronzer and highlighter but I probably would never use it like that. I do think the colours are gorgeous though and the pigmentation is pretty good. You have to work with these a little bit but once you do they stay on pretty well throughout the day.
I was amazed to receive a product like this in my Ipsy bag. This is an Ipsy Exclusive palette. I love the brand Pacifica and I love how natural their products are. I was really surprised by the pigmentation of this. Since you receive so many shades I was expecting them to be really chalky and hard to work with. But these ended up blending so well and the shimmer shades had amazing pigmentation. This is a palette that you will probably have to pair with other shadows. It doesn’t include anything I personally would use as a transition type shade.
I’m a huge fan of Luxie Beauty makeup brushes. I always find that they are really great quality, they wash really well, and apply product smoothly. But I was really confused by the name of this brush. I would probably never use this to apply foundation. I like a more dense brush for that because it really helps to blend the product in well. Brushes like this leave my foundation looking super streaky. I would use this more for highlight or blush. I recently used it for blush and it applied the product to the apples of my cheeks and blended everything out really well!
Overall I’m happy with this month’s Ipsy bag. I LOVED the actual bag and plan to use it on a regular basis now! There was only one item that I don’t think I’ll get any use out of which is pretty good for Ipsy in my opinion. I would love to know what you thought of this month’s bag! Are you subscribed to Ipsy? What did you get in your bag this month?
