Top 5 Face Highlighters

Top 5 Face Highlighters

Over the past few years I have spiraled into having quite the makeup collection. Now my all time favourite makeup products are definitely lip products (hence the name of my blog). But I would probably have to say that my next favourite area of makeup is highlighters. I don’t know what it is but I just feel that much more confident when my skin looks glowy and my cheekbones are poppin’. I decided it was time to post a list of some of my favourite highlight products. It was pretty difficult to even come up with a top 5 but I did my best to narrow down the best face highlighters that I think are worth it!

Colourpop – Super Shock Cheek in Lunch Money

I’m obviously the biggest fan of just about every Colourpop product that’s been released. Their Super Shock highlighters are probably one of my all time favourite highlighting formulas. The product just sinks so well into the skin and gives you the perfect amount of dewy glow. Lunch Money is a really wonderful golden colour. It looks really gorgeous in the summertime! I love how this shade looks when I’m a little more bronzey. It still looks amazing in the winter as well though. The product can be a little hard to work with at first since it’s a creamy formula. I love applying this by lightly tapping the colour to my cheekbones with my finger or a beauty blender. I find the beauty blender helps the product to really sink in and look a little more on the glowy side!

Essence – Pure Nude Highlight in Be My Highlight

On days when I wear little to no makeup I usually look for a more glow from within type highlight. This is one of the best glowy highlights that I have ever tried. This looks like nothing when you look at the product on the pan or swatch it with your finger. But as soon as you pop this on the cheekbones it just transforms somehow! It honestly makes my skin look really healthy and gives my dull skin some life on days that I wear minimal makeup. I also found that I love using this as a finishing powder for matte foundations. It sets everything pretty well and gives a flat matte foundation a little something extra without making me look like a sweaty greasy mess.

Becca Shimmer Skin Perfector in Opal

The first Becca product I purchased was Champagne Pop. It’s such an amazing shade and it will always hold such a special place in my heart. I love when I see successful youtubers collaborate to make amazing products! But I find sometimes I’m not as into the colour on my skin tone and I don’t really reach for it as much as I should. The formula is amazing though so I was excited to get Opal in a Sephora Favourites value set. I honestly thought this shade might be a little too dark for my skin tone but it looks gorgeous! It’s a highlight that just makes your skin look glowy and wet. I actually brought this with me when I went on my beach vacation at the beginning of the year and unfortunately shattered it slightly. I’m just trying my best to be careful with this so I don’t completely shatter it. If it was broken beyond repair I would definitely be going out to buy another one though, it’s seriously a must have product for anyone who is highlighter obsessed!

LA Girl – Strobe Lite Strobing Powder in 100 Watt *

Every so often I want a highlight with more glitter and shimmer. This usually happens if I’m going out or I’m going to be at a darker venue. I find that glittery highlights look really great in more dimly lit lighting since it really helps to pick up on the small amount of available lighting. This is one of my favourite highlights for that glittery effect. I find this looks the best if you spray the brush with a little bit of Mac Fix+ before because it really helps to keep the highlight in place. Sometimes with glittery highlights you can get a lot of weird fall out but Fix+ takes care of that and keeps everything looking great! This highlight has a really gorgeous almost cool tone to it which I love on my skin. It’s super unique in my opinion because I really don’t have anything like it in my collection!

Makeup Geek x KathleenLights – Highlighter Palette

If you follow my Instagram account you’ll know I’m a huge fan of KathleenLights. I pretty much will support her in anything she collaborates or works on. I find her super relatable and one of the Youtubers that I actually trust in terms of recommendations. This was one of those products that I knew I needed to support. I always find that Kathleen had really great highlight favourites so I knew she would create an amazing product.

All three of the shades in this palette are gorgeous but I specifically am obsessed with Starlight, the pink shade in the middle. This honestly made me realize that I love how a pink highlight looks on my face. This looks really great on my skin when I’m a little more on the pale side. It has a more metallic finish and looks wet on the skin. On a regular basis I enjoy wearing a highlight that had little to no glitter. This has zero glitter but still makes the cheekbones pop in all the right ways!

Lunch Money, Be My Highlight, Opal, 100 Watt, Starlight
