What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag – Travel Essentials

What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag – Travel Essentials

In January I went on vacation to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. It’s always fun to get away for a little while on a beach vacation. I enjoyed my trip for the most part. My boyfriend and I had some issues with our room but it wasn’t the end of the world. As a makeup addict I couldn’t leave on vacation without at least bringing along some of my favourite makeup products! I decided to create a list of everything I brought on my trip and give you an idea of what exactly was in my travel makeup bag.

Some of the product that I brought with me weren’t used at all so I decided that in my list anything that is bolded is something that I actually used. I definitely could have gotten away with bringing less products with me. I’m quite the overpacker so I’m not even surprised that I took too much stuff along with me. I ended up using some of the products I brought with me strictly because I had them and figured I might as well use them, rather than actually needing them. But I definitely should have brought less foundation and lip products. Those are my weakness though so I knew I would have a few too many.

Base Products:

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water (http://bit.ly/2kMJhA8) *
Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer (http://bit.ly/2lvO09C) *
ELF Lip Exfoliator (http://bit.ly/2kwQLsI) *
Make Up For Ever Step 1 Smoothing Primer (http://bit.ly/2kwS7Ui) *
Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base (http://bit.ly/2lpw6rZ) *
L’Oreal Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray (http://amzn.to/2kU8mvw) *

I brought a lot of my holy grail everyday base products with me. All of my base products are ones that I use on a regular basis.

Foundation/Concealer:

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer (http://bit.ly/2lwM6FC) *
Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder – Translucent (http://bit.ly/2k8LwB0) *
bareMinerals Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 (http://bit.ly/2kNFlPK) *
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer (http://bit.ly/2kseWG9) *
It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50+ – Light  (http://bit.ly/2kxMm8E) *

I probably should have stuck to just bringing one foundation with me. I really don’t even know why I brought all three of those foundations. For some reason I thought I was going to be wearing makeup every single day so I wanted simple products that had SPF. But I only wore makeup on a couple nights when it had rained all afternoon and I had some time to kill in the hotel room.

Eyes/Brows:

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow – I Heart This (http://bit.ly/2k8QFJj)
WET N WILD Color Icon Eyeshadow Collection – Comfort Zone (http://amzn.to/2k9pfxQ) *
Colourpop Super Shock Shadow – Brady (http://bit.ly/2lwlNPI)
Colourpop Super Shock Shadow – Cornelious (http://bit.ly/2kUdJef)
Maybelline Lash Sensational Black Pearl Waterproof Mascara (http://amzn.to/2lwCESr) *
Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara – Black/Brown (http://bit.ly/2kNHj2p) *
Colourpop Brow Pencil – Dope Taupe (http://bit.ly/2k8SndA)
Benefit 3D BROWtones Instant Color Highlights – 02 Light/Medium (http://bit.ly/2k8PglJ) *

I was really pleased with the eye products that I brought with me. I found that they could give me all the looks that I was hoping to wear while I was away. The Maybelline Mascara was unreal, it held my lash curl so well which was important because I forgot to bring a lash curler. I dropped Brady on my second night there and cracked the shadow. Luckily the colourpop shades are super creamy so I was able to kind of squish it back together.

Cheek Products:

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer – Light Bronzer (http://amzn.to/2lnzDXF) *
Physicians Formula Butter Blush – Plum Rose (http://amzn.to/2kYdjmp) *
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed – Opal (http://bit.ly/2lTUxeg) *

I’m really happy with the cheek products that I brought with me. I found that they worked perfectly for a soft bronze and glow look. The only thing was that my highlight actually started to shatter on my flight to the Dominican and now I have to be super careful with it because it’s split in half completely.

Lip Products:

Annabelle Lip Liner – Vintage (http://amzn.to/2kDZ2If) *
Brooke Candy Mac Lip Pencil – Night Crawler (http://bit.ly/2lnJQU5)*
Colourpop Glossy Lip – Stain (Discontinued)
Colourpop Glossy Lip – Tight Fit (http://bit.ly/2kPkE5l)
Ofra Liquid Lipstick – Pasadena (http://bit.ly/2lpmvRa)
Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream – Copenhagen (http://bit.ly/2lnJwEx) *
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip – Beeper (http://bit.ly/2lnEWq2)
Bite Luminous Creme Lipstick Duo – Date & Fig (Discontinued)
NYX Lip Liner – Mauve (http://bit.ly/2kPh0s1) *
Colourpop Lippie Stix – Kiddo (Discontinued)
Sephora Nano Lip Liner – Pleasant Plum (Discontinued)

Overall I think I brought a decent amount of product with me on my recent trip. I found that I was overwhelmed by the amount of lip products that I brought with me. If I were to go back and change the products I brought I would have only brought a nude, a deep colour and a gloss. I would have been totally happy with that since that was what I ended up wearing.
