I swear I’m a sucker for a good nude lip colour. I wear a nude lip 99% of the time that I wear lipstick. There’s a reason I decided to name my blog nude lip diaries. Even though I have a pretty excessive collection of nude lipsticks, I still feel as if I should be purchasing more. In my mind nude lipsticks are always a little bit different when it comes to formula, consistency, wear time or colour. My favourite way to try out nude lips lately has been the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip sets. I reviewed one of the past sets on my blog which you can find here.
The Sephora Favorites sets are such a great way to try out different high end products at an affordable price. Most of the time you can pick up the whole set for the price of one or two items at full size. The one downside is that the products included are usually deluxe samples – but honestly how often do you even go through a full size lip product? These sizes work perfectly for me because it gives me a chance to try out new items. In the past I’ve usually already owned a product or two that is included. But for the first time I don’t own any of the colours that are included – I do own a couple of these in other shades though.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Honeycomb (beige nude)
I have a few other Bite Beauty Lipsticks that I’ve accumulated in past. This colour isn’t one that I already had my collection. I really like the formula of these, I find they last a decent time for being a traditional lipstick. They are super comfortable and aren’t super drying based on my previous experiences. I find that having a lip liner under these definitely enhances the formula.
I’ll be honest with you, when I put this on my lips I completely hated the colour. At first, I tried it by itself so that I could get a true idea of how it looked. But I ended up mixing it with the Urban Decay lipstick included in this set and it made for a much better colour. Their formulas also mixed really well. I just found this colour to really pull out any yellow tones I had in my teeth and it was not at all flattering.
Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian (nude)
I don’t know what took me so long to try this lip product. I think I’ve been so against wearing lip gloss in the past that I didn’t bother with trying the Buxom lip cremes. I’ve become more of a fan of lip gloss over the past year, it can make liquid lipsticks a whole lot more comfortable.
This product has a slight tingle to it right after you apply it to your lips. It definitely takes a while to get used to at first but after a while I decided I didn’t mind the sensation.
The colour of this is a very sheer nude tint. This would look great on top of any nude or pink lip shade. It even looks great on its own. I found that it makes your lips look wet and pretty plump which I’m super into.
Estée Edit The Barest Contour lip Liner in 05 In The Buff (satin nude)
I can never have too many lip liners in my collection. I find that I always misplace them or use them up in no time.
This liner was the perfect colour for me. It’s a my lips but better type of colour. I think the formula is really nice and it does a great job from keeping any lipstick that I put on top of it from bleeding. It is a slight bit drying if you decide to wear this on its own, but that was easily fixed by adding a little bit of gloss on top.
The one thing that I disliked about this was the actual size of the liner. It was great at first when it still had a sharper point to it but after using it a few times it’s difficult to apply a precise line around the edges of my mouth. I wish that they would have made the applicator keep the product a little bit smaller in diameter.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Crème in 246 Slow Burn (creamy nude rose)
I’ve been addicted to the Le Marc Lip Crèmes since I received my first one when I became VIB Rouge a couple years ago. It’s a traditional lipstick but it’s probably one of the most long wearing traditional lipsticks I’ve ever tried. If these weren’t so expensive I probably would own every single colour. This lipstick was probably the biggest influence for me to purchase this set.
The colour is perfect for everyday. It’s a really nice pink toned nude. Most of the other Lip Crèmes that I own are more unwearable colours for everyday so I’m glad to finally own one that I can wear all the time!
Too Faced Cosmetics Melted Matte Liquified Matte Long Wear Lipstick in Queen B (matte soft mauve)
I own a couple other Melted Matte Liquified lipsticks and I find that it’s a pretty comfortable liquid lipstick formula. If you have dry lips I definitely recommend exfoliating before putting this on. This formula lasts pretty well throughout the day for me and doesn’t make my lips too dry and crusty.
This has a really pretty mauve tone to it. It’s such a perfect everyday colour while still being a little bold.
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in 1993 Comfort Matte (medium brown)
I’ve heard so much hype about these but I’ve never actually owned any of the Vice Lipsticks. I know it’s crazy but I just rarely purchase high end traditional lipstick products. For some reason though I’ll splurge on high end liquid lipsticks all day, every day. When I saw that the set included this in a full size I was pretty stoked to try it out!
In all honesty the first time I tried this out I completely hated it. I don’t know what happened but the colour just balled up like crazy on my lips after a couple hours of wearing it. I think it might have had something to do with my super dry lips and the fact that time is a matte product. I’ve worn it a couple times since then and as long as I exfoliate my lips quite a bit before hand it usually ends up wearing pretty well throughout the day.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the colour. It was a bit too warm of a brown for me but I found that if I wore the lip liner included in this set underneath it the colour looked much better. It also looked perfect when I mixed it with the Bite Beauty Honeycomb lipstick!
Did you pick up this Sephora Favorites set? I would love to hear your thoughts on the products that they included this time? Do you already own any of these?
